G15 housing association names former Taylor Wimpey development director Ian Wardle as new boss
Large developing housing association A2 Dominion has appointed Ian Wardle as chief executive.
A2 Dominion, which manages 38,000-homes and is a member of the G15 group in London, has recruited Wardle, who has been chief executive at Newcastle-based Thirteen Group since 2016.
Wardle will start his new role in September following the retirement of Darrell Mercer, who is retiring after 34 years as CEO.
Wardle has previously served as a development director for Taylor Wimpey, from 2001 to 2003, and has worked in local government as managing director of Reading council and director of regeneration at Redcar & Cleveland council.
The announcement comes at a time of further changes at the top at A2 Dominion, with Alan Collett, a chartered surveyor and outgoing chair of fellow housing association Hyde Group, taking over as chair on Wednesday (23rd). He replaces Ian Cox, whose nine-year term has come to an end.
Wardle said: “It is an exciting time to join A2 Dominion to assist in its future service delivery. I am looking forward very much to working with customers, colleagues and partners to face the future with continued strength and to build on the great work to date.”
A2 Dominion has a total development pipeline of 5,453 homes and completed 580 homes in the first six months of the 2021/22 financial year. In November it reported a 60% increase in surplus for the six months to 30 September to £18.9m. However it was slightly lower than the £20.3m reported for the same period in 2019 pre-pandemic. The group’s turnover increased from £145.2m for the first half of 2020/21 to £177.2 million in the same period in 2021/22.
