Development next to Hounslow West Tube station is on TfL-owned land
Housing association A2 Dominion and Transport for London (TfL) hves secured approval for a 348-home affordable housing development on a Transport for London-owned site next to Hounslow West Tube station.
Hounslow council gave approval for the homes, which will be a mix of shared ownership and London Affordable Rent, late last week. The development will include improvements to the Tube station and a new public square.
A2 Dominion is developing the scheme, which has been designed by HKR architects, in partnership with Transport for London’s commercial property company, TTL Properties.
The 39,000-home housing association is planning to deliver a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroomed properties on the 1.5-hectare site.
It will also provide new pedestrian routes, upgraded cycle parking and 950 sqm of retail space.
Anjna Farmah, property development manager at Transport for London, said the development would preserve the appearance of the Grade II listed station.
She added: “We’re thrilled that the plans to deliver 348 brand new homes – all of which will be affordable - next to Hounslow West Tube station have been approved by Hounslow Council. Working together with A2 Dominion, we are using our land to help tackle the housing crisis and deliver the high quality homes the capital urgently needs.”
Steven Waite, director of technical and commercial at A2 Dominion, said: “A2 Dominion focuses on developing and maintaining high quality, affordable homes and we are committed to future investment in Hounslow and the surrounding area. These new homes represent an opportunity for local people and those who work locally, to become part of a new thriving community.”
