JV development forms part of £10bn investment portfolio for the West Midands
Further details of an ambitious £250m scheme which will include building more than 1,000 news homes in the centre of Wolverhampton have been unveiled at Mipim today.
The Brewers Yard scheme (pictured) was part of a raft of investment opportunities worth £10bn unveiled by the West Midlands Combined Authority in Cannes earlier today.
The scheme, to be developed jointly by Wolverhampton city council, developer Court Collaboration and the WMCA, is being proposed for a 10-acres brownfield site next to University of Wolverhampton’s Springfield campus.
As well as 60,000ft2 of retail and commercial space the site will feature 1,100 city houses and apartments, an unspecified number of which will be affordable.
Anthony McCourt, chief executive and founder of Court Collaboration, said the scheme was “a real opportunity for the private and public sector to work together to bring forward and make viable a huge development opportunity.
“It’s a collaboration in its truest sense and would not work without those public sector additions to the scheme. Together, it delivers a truly transformative project for Wolverhampton, and, for all in the WMAC.”
Court Collaboration has developed a number of schemes across the Midlands and the north of the country, including the One Eastside scheme, Birmingham’s tallest residential tower which features nearly 700 flats.
