Homes England’s land and development boss says change is coming around MMC and procurement, in the second part of our exclusive interview

Yesterday Stephen Kinsella told Housing Today that the review of the direction of Homes England could see it impose new building standards on its partners in the areas of sustainability, biodiversity and design. Today he tells us that more change could be afoot around offsite building, procurement, and sets out why he is confident the affordable homes programme can be delivered.

Modern methods

Another area where change could be afoot is with the agency’s commitment to driving adoption of modern methods of construction. Previous chief executive Nick Walkley made this a core mission for the body, investing tens of million into flagship deals with innovative MMC businesses including Urban Splash with Sekisui House and Ilke, and setting a requirement that strategic partners in the affordable homes programme deliver at least 25% of their programmes using offsite techniques.
