Lawyer turned housing innovator explains how the festival is helping deliver MMC built homes in Bristol

How and where people live are at the root of many of the inequalities seen across communities and the demands being made on scarce council resources. Bristol City Council’s One City Plan, setting out an action plan to 2050, is one way of recognising and starting to address them. It was also the driver for an initiative that works from left of field, occupying neutral territory between council, developers, local groups and community and bringing all of them together to enable innovations in housebuilding and community resilience. The initiative is Bristol Housing Festival, which launched in 2018 with an exhibition of housing innovation setting out its stall to the housebuilding industry and the Bristol public.
