Mark Davis talks about pivoting into MMC, electric homes, studying Japanese and his love of Sri Lankan food
Why did you choose housing as a career?
Fresh out of university, my first job was with Berkeley Homes in 2004 which feels a very long time ago. Where I grew up in Hampshire, Berkeley Homes developed a large mixed-use regeneration scheme in Portsmouth called Gunwharf Quays – a 33-acre site which delivered hundreds of new homes, an iconic 29-storey residential tower, bars and restaurants, cinema, a bowling complex, a designer fashion outlet, which is now home to more than 90 brands, as well as berths for ships and new office space. This was a scheme which delivered long-term transformational change for the local community and created huge social benefit.
