75 years on, we need to rediscover the spirit of Windrush, which showed the crucial role housing can play in society, writes Geeta Nanda
It’s been a time of both celebration and reflection on the 75th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks last month. The 492 Caribbean migrants who disembarked in London on that day arrived in a country ravaged by war and experiencing a prolonged period of austerity.
The contribution of the Windrush generation and their descendants has been invaluable to the UK.
