Time to embrace for-profit RPs

Collaboration between for-profit registered providers and housing associations could be key to building additional homes

To paraphrase Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who survive, but those who can best manage change.”

One current question doing the rounds within the affordable housing sector is what impact the entry of for-profit registered providers (RP) might have on the existing players or indeed the affordable housing market in general.

Recently, at the Chartered Institute of House conference in Bristol, Rob Bailey from Trowers & Hamlins boldly predicted that the advent of for-profit RPs was the greatest change to the affordable housing sector since it embraced borrowing in the 1980s.
