Social landlords in the north of England are ready to deliver but they need the right resources, argues Tracy Harrison

Housing waiting lists are growing fast in the North and there are more than 12,500 households living in temporary accommodation.

It’s clear we desperately need more social housing, so the extra £300m of funding for the current Affordable Homes Programme (AHP) announced last week is welcome. The new government has made tackling the housing crisis a priority. We’re determined to work with the government and our members to make sure we can get the best outcome for communities across the north.

In the last five years, the north has delivered more than 66,000 new affordable homes, with completions at near record levels in recent years, and we are ready to go further and faster with the right support.
