Much in the budget was positive for social housing, but providers will need to review spending plans due to NIC changes

The first Labour Budget in 14 years was a bit of a curate’s egg, writes Duncan Short

As the dust begins to settle on the excitement of the first Labour Budget for 14 years, we can reflect on what it might mean for us at Vivid In many ways, it is a bit of a “Curate’s egg”.

On the positive side, it is great to see an extra £500m for the current Affordable Homes Budget which runs until 2026 and will help support the building of more, much needed, new “affordable homes”. It is disappointing, however, that we will have to wait until the Spring Spending Review before we understand what will follow the current AHP.
