Ministers must not overlook short-term measures to get housing associations building

Early signs suggests the new government is committed to boosting affordable housing development in the longer term, but they need to utilise quick fixes also, writes Paul Hackett

‘Change Begins’ was the theme of this year’s Labour Party conference and, for housing associations, positive changes are seemingly on the horizon.

A rumoured long-term, inflation-linked rent settlement and an injection of investment into the final year of the Affordable Homes Programme, signal government’s commitment to boosting housing association development.
