Misunderstanding about the nature of later living developments is leading to underoccupation and housebuilders’ language often doesn’t help, argues Louise Drew
While taking the leap to move to a later living development can be daunting, ultimately, it can lead to improved independence, improved quality of life and wellbeing or care benefits that outweigh any perceived drawbacks. These specially designed developments offer a range of services, from social and recreational activities to medical care, meal services, and transportation, whilst also providing a sense of community and belonging, particularly if the new occupant has been used to living alone.
