The government last month committed to making the ombudsman’s voluntary services mandatory for housebuilders. Jonathan Webb questions whether the move wiil be beneficial
On 22 October, the new government agreed to the New Homes Ombudsman’s call to make housebuilders’ participation in its voluntary service compulsory.
The government outlined its commitment in its formal response to the Competition & Markets Authority’s study on improving consumer protection and transparency in the housing market.
