The new standards will be with us in just two years – but to meet them, the industry is going to need a lot more government support, argues Laura Reeve
The housing sector is edging ever closer to one of its biggest challenges for decades. The Future Homes Standard and the Future Buildings Standard will both come into force in 2025, via changes to the Building Regulations, with the aim of achieving a major reduction in carbon emissions. Future Homes in particular focuses on the design and construction of new domestic buildings.
