After a slow start, the government is at least taking the nutrient pollution issue seriously but now more joined-up thinking is needed, argues Andrew Watson
The government last week announced a number of new initiatives in relation to nutrient poution, following its earlier statement on 16 March 2022. After a long period since the issue first hit, where the problem was only cursorily acknowledged, the government is, to its credit now building some momentum on the issue.
My initial take on the latest statement is that this is clearly a big step in the right direction. However, timing will be critical.
