Your Homes Newcastle makes new appointments to oversee closure

Your Homes Newcastle, the arm’s length housing management organisation that Newcastle City Council voted to close last month, has appointed two new board members.

The arm’s length management organisation (ALMO) has appointed a new chair and vice chair to its board, at what YHN described as “critical stage” for the organisation, following the announcement that Your Homes will be closed and all housing services will become part of the council.

YHN has said that the decision to bring Newcastle’s housing services in-house is “the biggest change to council housing in the city for almost two decades”.

The ALMO was created in 2004 to launch the then Labour government’s Decent Homes Fund, which councils were not able to access directly.
